MSc in Web Science (Dual Degree)

The MSc in Web Science produces graduates with a high level of competency in understanding, applying, and enunciating the latest and modern concepts, principles, methods, and theories necessary for multidisciplinary academic and applied research; and able to meet the needs of business and industry in Egypt, the Middle East, Europe, and the rest of the world.

The programme is taught by experienced faculty members with diverse backgrounds in industry, academia, and research, who are internationally and nationally recognized.

The programme offers a dual certificate: one from The British University in Egypt (BUE) that is validated by the Supreme Council of Universities (SCU) and the second from London South Bank University (LSBU) that is validated by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) in the UK.

The degree programme comprises two stages:

1. In the first two semesters (to a maximum of three semesters) students study 8 modules (24 credit hours (Egypt), equivalent to 120 credits (UK)) comprising 4 core modules and 4 optional modules.

2. Then, on successful completion of the modules (with a GPA of 2.7 or more), students undertake a research thesis (12 credit hours (Egypt), equivalent to 60 credits (UK)), on which they are required to spend at least one academic year. Students submit their thesis proposal during the first semester after finishing the modules.

Additionally:

· Students are required to register for 3 credit hours/semester for 4 consecutive semesters (total of 12 credit hours) even if they don’t submit their thesis proposal.

· If, after completing 36 hours, the student has not submitted their final thesis, they have to register for 1 credit hour per semester.

· The maximum time period for registration on the programme is 4 academic years (8 semesters).

The academic year begins in September. Semester One usually starts in late September and Semester Two in February. Each semester is 15 weeks.
