Consistent with British Univerity in Egypt's mission “to provide a British-style education of the highest quality supplying graduates that feed and stimulate industry, social and public services and commercial activities of Egypt, the Middle East and beyond,” The British University has embarked on transforming itself into a research-led institution of the first class, by creating research centres and attracting internationally recognised and resourceful academic staff. Moreover, graduate programmes have been an important part of The British University in Egypt's development plan.

Today, following the graduation of the first undergraduate cohorts from the Faculty of Engineering in 2010 and from the Faculty of Informatics and Computer Science in 2009, the two faculties are launching graduate programmes that offer Master's Degrees in four academic programmes in advanced technologies, which serve energy, materials, and web sciences. Also, the joint BUE-LSBU PhD programme was established to help support assistant lecturers (M.Sc. holders) to pursue their postgraduate studies under a joint supervision programme as part-time students at London South Bank University.
