Dean of Pharmacy

Dear Students

Welcome to the Faculty of Pharmacy at The British University in Egypt. Together: students, faculty, staff and friends, we share a powerful connection. That connection lies in the education of future Pharmacy professionals, in research that benefits humankind, in service to the profession, and in providing the healthcare needs of our community. We are committed to fostering leadership, advancing knowledge, promoting justice and embracing transparency.

Our Faculty offers a five-year programme including the Preparatory Year and grants a BPharm Degree. It offers creative and professional entry-level programmes with British quality education. We seek to produce graduates of UK standards and to provide the best healthcare needed not only for Egypt, and for the wider region, but also internationally.

The Faculty of Pharmacy was founded by Presidential Decree 208/2012 and admitted its first cohort of 225 students in September 2012 according to Ministerial Decree 2641 of the Ministry of Higher Education. We have a high calibre staff with a strong background in UK pharmaceutical education. The programme is also supported by skilled Teaching Assistants from leading universities. We provide a unique educational experience, combining the best in laboratories, lectures and tutorials.
As we continually strive to improve our programme and extend our national and international influence through quality education, research and community services, we welcome your comments and suggestions. Whether you are a prospective student, current student, or future employer of our graduates, I invite you to explore our website and learn more about us.

Yours,

About:

Faculty of Pharmacy offers 2 unique programmes with a British style of education of the highest quality:

Pharm D ( 5 studying years + 1 Internship year )

Pharm D- Clinical (5 studying years + 1 Internship year)

Pharmacy is the clinical health science that links medical sciences with chemistry and is responsible for the discovery, production, control, disposal, safe and effective use of drugs and control of medications and drugs. Clinical pharmacy requires other skills, e.g. knowledge about the acquisition and evaluation of physical and laboratory data.

The pharmacist is “a person prepared to formulate, dispense, and provide clinical information on drugs or medications to health professionals and patients.” A pharmacist is a member of a health care team, who plays a key role in providing quality healthcare and pharmaceutical care to the public. They are experts in medicines and use their clinical expertise, together with formulation, quality control, and practical knowledge, to ensure the safe supply and use of medicines.

To be effective healthcare team members and pharmaceutical care providers, pharmacists need skills and attitudes enabling them to conduct many different functions. For this reason, the concept of the “Seven-star pharmacist” was introduced by the World Health Organization (WHO) in March 2014 and covered these roles: Caregiver, decision-maker, communicator, manager, life-long learner, teacher, and leader. In addition to the main role of a pharmacist as a researcher in the field of pharmaceutical and medical sciences.

If you are interested in a healthcare career, but not sure which path to take; the following are among the most common reasons that encourage you to choose to pursue a career in pharmacy over other healthcare professions.

  1. Interest in More Than One Science:

  2. Passion for Building Relationships with Others:

  3. Unique Approach to Healthcare

  4. Desire for Flexibility in Career Choice
