 About:

The Faculty of Communication and Mass Media (FCMM) at The British University in Egypt (BUE) aims to promote cultural, economic, social and technological development through preparing a generation of fully equipped communication and media graduates.  FCMM offers a four-year full-time programme designed to render students with academic theoretical knowledge and how to apply it within the creative practice in the communication and mass media industry. The faculty gives its students the choice of opting 1 of 4 specialisations, and they are: Journalism and New Media, Radio and Television, Film and Media Studies, and Integrated Marketing Communications. FCMM bestows its students with dual degrees, being validated by the Egyptian Supreme Council of Universities and London South Bank University (LSBU).

With its state-of-the-art programmes, FCMM is considered the initial faculty in Egypt that offers comprehensive film and media studies in one programme. Some of them incorporate film, broadcasting, journalism, public relations and new media modules from miscellaneous sub-disciplines such as media and society, media and politics, film and media analysis, multimedia, and communication for development. Furthermore, the faculty has and continues to recruit experts in the field, local and international staff that are responsible for the teaching process. In this likely manner, FCMM equips its graduates to be competent in working within the competitive job market of not only national but also regional and international media.

Notably, the faculty inaugurated its Masters of Science (MSc.) programme during the academic year of 2020-2021. Having a dual degree from the UK and Egypt, the programme is exclusively specialised in Digital Media. The postgraduate programme transpires on exploring the paramount transformations of the 21st century digital media landscape. The MSc. in Digital Media is considered the first interdisciplinary programme in Egypt that incorporates both Communication & Mass Media modules, and Informatics & Computer Science modules. Students are exposed to a number of sub-disciplinary modules each semester, and thus gaining the prerequisite knowledge and competence.
