Faculty of Art and Design's Contribution to Egyptian Cultural Revival

In a celebration of cultural heritage and women's empowerment, students from the Fashion Department at the Faculty of Art and Design at The British University in Egypt showcased their talents in reviving Tally's traditional craft during an event at the National Council for Women’s headquarters.  The Faculty played a pivotal role as an academic partner, collaborating with esteemed institutions like the National Council for Women and the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) in the groundbreaking pilot project "Intellectual Property and Entrepreneurship for Women - Empowerment of Women in Local Communities through Intellectual Property This initiative marks a significant step towards establishing Egypt's inaugural collective brand, Tally Shandaweel.

The event concluded with a captivating runway show where the students confidently modelled their innovative Tally pieces, emphasising the fusion of tradition and modernity in fashion design. As an academic partner of the initiative, The British University in Egypt is proud to participate in fostering creativity and entrepreneurship among its students while contributing to the revival of traditional crafts in local communities.

This remarkable initiative was highlighted on the TV show "El Set Aziza" on DMC, further amplifying its impact and significance nationwide. Such exposure showcases the students' dedication to preserving cultural heritage and promoting women's empowerment through their creative endeavours in fashion.
