Admission Criteria for the Faculty:
The British University in Cairo admission requirements comply fully with the Egyptian Council of Private & National Universities (CPNU) regulations. The Faculty of Art & Design’s entry requirements are as follows:-
- High school entry requirements (decided by the Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education)
- BUE internal entry requirements include:
English Entry Requirements
I. Holders of national high school certificates are requested to either:
- Submit a valid academic IELTS with a minimum score of (5.0)
- Sit for (Linguaskill) English Placement Test that belongs to Cambridge University
- Examined applicants are categorized according to their results as follows:
II. Holders of internationally recognized high school certificates are exempted from the English test as per the following criteria:
In addition to the admission requirements applicants will be requested to attend a portfolio inspection group interview session or go through an aptitude test.
Portfolio Submission Interview:
Dear Students,
Thanks for applying to come to study with us at the Faculty of Art & Design at the British University in Egypt. We are very interested to meet you to see some examples of your work and are writing to invite you to campus for a short interview and portfolio session to get to know a little more about you and so that you can get to know a little more about us.
In the meantime, please can you prepare a portfolio of your own original art and design work which includes:
- A short statement about yourself and why you would like to study at the Faculty of Art & Design*.
- Any sketchbooks, paintings, photographs of art and design work.
- If you have digital work, please bring it on a memory stick and we will use a screen to look at it.
*Lastly, for the Faculty to plan effectively we would like to have a clearer understanding about which particular Faculty of Art & Design department (in order of preference) you are considering joining. Please bear in mind that these choices are neither fixed at this stage when chosen, nor guaranteed, dependent upon specific module grades and overall Prep Year performance. Please include this at the end of your short statement about yourself.

- Fine Art: Fine Art Programme
- Interior Architecture: Interior Design Programme
- Fashion & Textiles: Fashion Design Programme
- Graphic & Media Photography Programme; Game Design Programme; Illustration Animation Programme
We will look at your work and use it to start a short conversation with you and the other students who arrive for the Interview / Portfolio day. This session will be fun and informative, and a good opportunity for you to ask us questions about the Faculty of Art & Design.
Aptitude Test:
We warmly welcome new students to the Faculty of Art and Design!!
To be eligible for the aptitude test, you must complete an online admission form and bring the necessary tools with you such as:
· pencils & eraser.
· Colored pencils.
· Ruler 60cm.
. Coloured and black markers.
