Senior Editor and Writer - Marketing Communications
Job Purpose
The Senior Editor & Writer is responsible for developing high-impact speeches, strategic messaging, and editorial content for prestigious events and presidential communications. This role ensures the voice and tone of executive messaging reflects the values, goals, and vision of The British University in Egypt while maintaining consistency, clarity, and audience alignment. The position requires a keen sense of diplomacy and storytelling excellence to engage high-level stakeholders and audiences.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead the development of all written materials related to prestigious events, including event programs, executive bios, honoree citations, ceremonial scripts, and post-event reports.
- Draft compelling, audience-focused speeches, remarks, and talking points for the University President and other senior leadership for official ceremonies, events, and external engagements.
- Conduct research to support the development of speeches and communications, aligning with strategic objectives, audience demographics, and university context.
- Edit and refine content to maintain tone, clarity, and messaging consistency in line with the university’s identity and values.
- Prepare keynote addresses, video scripts, and formal statements for external publication or distribution.
- Collaborate with leadership to define key universities' narratives and messaging themes across major events and campaigns.
- Translate complex academic or policy material into accessible and compelling content for diverse audiences, including government officials, international delegations, and media.
- Provide editorial guidance to ensure consistency across all high-level written communication produced under the President’s Office.
- Ensure all communications are tailored to protocol and cultural sensitivity for national and international audiences.
- Liaise with internal departments and external partners to gather necessary insights and coordinate messaging.
- Undertake any additional duties assigned by the Line Manager.
Job Requirements
Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Communication and Mass Media – Journalism, English, Political Science, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
Experience
- Minimum of 4 -7 years of professional experience in executive communications, speechwriting, or editorial work in a governmental, academic, or media setting.
Technical Skills
- Demonstrated experience writing for senior executives, public figures, or high-stakes events.
- Strong understanding of protocol, diplomacy, and cross-cultural communication
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills with a meticulous eye for detail.
