Payroll Specialist- Human Resources Department

Job Purpose

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for managing and executing the University’s payroll operations with accuracy, timeliness, and full compliance with Egyptian labor and tax laws. Ensuring proper payroll records, accurate calculation of salaries and deductions, and efficient processing of payments in alignment with the Finance Department, while also supporting internal audits and contributing to process improvement initiatives.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Process monthly payroll for all employees with accuracy and confidentiality. 
  • Verify and calculate salaries, benefits, bonuses, overtime, deductions, and taxes. 
  • Manage off-cycle/amendments payments, including new hires, terminations, and special adjustments. 
  • Ensure full compliance with labor and tax regulations. 
  • Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual tax reports. 
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Egyptian tax, labor, and social insurance regulations. 
  • Ensure proper documentation for all payroll actions in accordance with audit and compliance standards. 
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding salaries, deductions, and tax-related matters. 
  • Support internal and external payroll audits by providing documentation and reports. 
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for payroll activities. 
  • Recommend and implement process enhancements to improve accuracy and efficiency in payroll operations. 
  • Coordinate with Finance to ensure smooth payroll execution and reporting. 
  • Undertake additional duties as assigned by line manager

 

Job Requirements

Educational Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

Experience

- 2–3 years of experience in payroll processing and administration, preferably within a large organization or higher education institution.

 

Technical Skills:

- Strong knowledge of Egyptian labor laws and tax regulations.

- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and HR/payroll systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar).

- Experience using the Egyptian Tax Portal for submissions and reconciliations.

- High attention to detail and accuracy.

- Strong organizational and time management skills.

- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.

- Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
