Professor David Phoenix Awarded Honourary Doctorate

At a prestigious ceremony held at The British University in Egypt, Professor David Phoenix, Vice-Chancellor of our Academic Partner, London South Bank University (LSBU), was conferred with an Honourary Doctorate, recognising his remarkable contributions to academia and cultural spheres, as well as his exceptional dedication to community service to the international community.

Professor Sir Magdi Yacoub, Chancellor of The British University in Egypt, bestowed the Honourary Doctorate on Professor Phoenix. In his concluding speech, he celebrated the successes achieved by Professor Phoenix and his longstanding achievements in the realm of education and community service, in a career marked by dedication and distinction. The conferral of the Honourary Doctorate took place amidst a joyous atmosphere, as Professor Phoenix expressed his gratitude for the recognition. He emphasised the importance of innovation in shaping the future of education and research.


By awarding this Honourary Doctorate, we recognise Professor Phoenix's remarkable achievements while also inspiring future generations to pursue excellence in academia and leadership. It's noteworthy that this is only the third time our university has awarded this distinction and the first bestowed upon an Academic Partner.

The Ceremony was attended by Ms.Farida Khamis, our Chair of the Board of Trustees, Professor Mohamed Loutfi, President and Vice-Chancellor of The British University in Egypt, H.E. Dr Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports in Egypt and H.E. Professor Hani Sewilam, Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources in Egypt, our Board of Trustees and Court members and many other distinguished guests as well as the BUE community.
