Faculty of Nursing and Faculty of Pharmacy Cooperate for First Aid Workshop

Under the joint initiative of the Faculty of Nursing and the Faculty of Pharmacy at The British University in Egypt, a comprehensive workshop focusing on first-aid training was successfully conducted on Wednesday, 7th February 2024. The workshop, held under the patronage of Professor Maha Adel, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, and Professor Mohey Elmazar, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, aimed to enhance the emergency response capabilities of the faculties' calibers.

Targeting pharmacy laboratory assistants and selected teaching assistants, who are integral members of the Pharmacy's Occupational Health, Safety, and Crisis Management Committee, the workshop was tailored to equip participants with essential skills to effectively manage potential emergencies.

A highlight of the workshop was a practical first-aid session, in which attendees received hands-on training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation techniques using simulation dolls. Additionally, participants were guided through proper procedures for addressing a spectrum of emergency, ranging from burns, sprains, fractures, to more critical situations such as asphyxiation, gas leakage, epilepsy/convulsions, and diabetic coma.

The engaging session received positive feedback from attendees who expressed gratitude for the proficient guidance provided by Associate Professor Dr Heba Abdelmawla from the Faculty of Nursing, who led the workshop with efficiency and patience, ensuring that all participants gained valuable insights. The event was further honored by the presence of Professor Nahla El Ashmawy, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development at the Faculty of Pharmacy.

This collaborative effort underscores the commitment of both faculties towards ensuring the safety and well-being of their community members, while also fostering interdisciplinary cooperation to tackle complex healthcare challenges effectively. Such initiatives not only empower individuals with life-saving skills but also reinforce the importance of synergy in healthcare education and practice.
