Learning and Development Supervisor - Human Resources
Job Purpose
The Learning & Development Supervisor leads the identification of organizational and employee capability gaps and translates them into effective learning and development plans and solutions. The position oversees the delivery, quality, budget, and effectiveness of L&D initiatives, including leadership, technical, functional, and behavioral development.
Job Responsibilities
- Establish L&D frameworks, standards, policies, and processes to ensure consistency and quality across the University.
- Continuously review and enhance the University's learning approach in response to organizational requirements, employee needs, and emerging L&D practices.
- Partner with stakeholders to ensure that identified development needs are linked to actual business and performance requirements.
- Develop the annual University-wide Learning & Development plan based on approved strategic priorities and identified capability gaps.
- Prepare and manage the annual L&D budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources and alignment with approved priorities.
- Monitor expenditure against budget and identify opportunities for cost optimization and improved return on learning investment. Prepare periodic reports on L&D activities, utilization, participation, and budget performance
- Design, coordinate, and oversee learning programs using a range of learning methodologies, including classroom training, workshops, coaching, mentoring, elearning, blended learning, job-based learning, and experiential learning.
- Ensure that learning solutions are relevant, practical, engaging, and aligned with identified competency and performance requirements.
- Support managers in developing meaningful Personal Development Plans (PDPs) for employees.
- Establish development interventions for employees requiring focused performance improvement, in coordination with relevant HR stakeholders. • Continuously review and improve learning programs based on participant and stakeholder feedback.
- Evaluate learning programs using appropriate methodologies, including participant feedback, knowledge assessment, behavioral application, performance improvement, and business impact where applicable.
- Analyze learning outcomes and identify areas requiring improvement or reinforcement.
- Undertake additional duties as assigned by the line manager.
Job Requirements
Educational Qualifications
- Desired Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, Education, or a related field.
Preferable:
- Postgraduate degree or professional qualification in Human Resources, Learning & Development, or a related discipline.
Experience
- 6 years of relevant HR experience, with substantial experience in Learning & Development. Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of modern Learning & Development methodologies.
- Strong understanding of adult learning principles and instructional design.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong data analysis, reporting, and presentation capabilities.
