The British University in Egypt Hosts Global Dental Summit with 2,500 Delegates from 10 Countries

The British University in Egypt welcomed 2,500 delegates from 10 countries to its inaugural International Dental Conference 2026, marking a significant step forward for medical education in the region and bolstering its position as a global hub for evolving health care practices.

Held under the leadership of Professor Mohamed Loutfi MBE, President and Vice-Chancellor of the University and member of Egypt’s Senate, the event brought together world-leading academics, researchers, and practitioners from three continents to bridge the gap between applied research and clinical reality, preparing the next generation of Egyptian dentists with global best practices.

"Advancing dental education requires a consistent bridge between academic research and clinical application," said Professor Loutfi. "At The British University in Egypt, we are committed to providing our students and faculty with direct access to international expertise through these global partnerships."

The scale of the conference reflects a growing need for standardised, research-led dental care in the region. With participants arriving from the United Kingdom, Australia, the United States, and across the Middle East, the programme featured specialised workshops held in collaboration with the Fédération Dentaire Internationale, the global authority for the dental profession.

The University's commitment to public health was a central theme. Professor Loutfi highlighted the success of its community outreach convoys, which have already delivered vital medical services to 100,000 citizens across 24 Egyptian governorates, reflecting the institution’s commitment to social responsibility alongside academic excellence.

Professor Fardos Rizk, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, described the event as more than just a conference. "This is about aligning our curriculum with the latest global standards," she said. "As one of the largest dental faculties in the region, we have a responsibility to lead the modernisation of dental practices."

The opening ceremony saw a rare gathering of academic leaders from across Egypt, including representatives from Ain Shams and Alexandria universities, as well as the Syndicate of Egyptian Dentists and the Egyptian Armed Forces Medical Services.

The University now looks to build on this momentum, with plans to make the summit a recurring fixture in the regional medical calendar, ensuring it remains at the forefront of international healthcare exchange.
