Student Support Officer

Job Purpose

The Faculty Student Support Officer is a senior administrative staff member who will work closely with the Vice Dean for Teaching and Learning to support and oversee the relationship between the faculty and the students in all areas.

 

Job Responsibilities

- To work collaboratively with the Vice Dean in managing the relationship with the students.

- To follow up on students’ cases, complaints, concerns.

- To organize and follow up on meetings and meeting requests by the parents.

- To organize and follow up on meetings and requests and inquiries by the students.

- To assist students in filling out appeals and impaired performances, as well as in leave forms (medical and sport events).

- To assist in the student’s induction programme and its organization.

- To assist in the advising process of the students.

- To follow up and report to the Vice Dean on students with problems (academic and medical).

- To Follow up on the decisions of the IP committees, the misconduct committees, and the appeal committees with the three Departments in the Faculty.

- To participate in recruitment and marketing activities of the faculty.

- To Assist in student events and activities and be responsible for the coordination of student sports and social activities in the faculty.

- To Attend open days with prospective students and inform potential students about the faculty and the three Departments.

- To assist in the review of the files of transfer students coordinate with student affairs.

- To assist the Vice Dean in the Examinations process including preparation of examination invigilation timetables and following up on students with special needs/conditions during examinations.

- To help solve student issues and problems within the BUE regulations in co-ordination with the Vice Dean.

- To attend student-staff liaison committees, follow up on problems and solving them as well as getting back to the students on the outcomes of these committees.

- To Make sure that the tutor system is implemented and followed up on in the three departments.

- To undertake other duties as reasonably may be required by the Dean and Vice Dean.

 

Job Requirements

Educational Qualifications

- Degree in Psychology and / or education, or any relevant field.

Experience

- Experience in education administration, particularly in university administration.

- Administrative Work.

- 5+ years of relevant experience.

 

Technical Skills

- Excellent in English communication and written.

- The ability to deal with large volumes of paperwork.

-The ability to manage a number of complex initiatives and relationships simultaneously, often with competing demands.

- Excellent computer skills.
