On March 10, 2019, The British University in Egypt welcomed HE Mr. Julius Georg Luy, the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Egypt in the presence of Mr. Mohamed Farid Khamis, Chairman of the BUE Board of Trustees, Professor Dr. Ahmed Hamad, the President of BUE, Vice Presidents, Deans, Ambassador Dr. Mahmoud Karem, Director of CEMES, where they discussed collaboration opportunities between the BUE and the outstanding research institutions in Germany.
The Ambassador of Germany inaugurated the Max Planck Alumni Association – Egypt Group, one of the leading research institutions in Germany and Worldwide. The chapter is now hosted by the British University in Egypt. The meeting was attended by Dr. Filippo Guarineri, the MPSS Founder and Chairman, and Dr. Amal Kasry, Founder of the Max Planck Association in Egypt, the office director of DAAD, (the German Academic exchange services), Mrs. Isabell Mering also attended.
HE Mr. Luy said that “he was delighted to visit the British University in Egypt for the First time.”
Afterward, the Ambassador delivered a lecture to Political Science Students entitled “German Cooperation with Egypt: Goals & Challenges.” His Excellency pinpointed the achievements and the economic reforms Egypt accomplished in the last four years. After the lecture, students engaged in a robust discussion with the Ambassador on water security, management, SME’s and environmental challenges.
It is worth mentioning that the lecture was organized by the Centre for Egypt and ME Studies in collaboration with Prof. Dr. Wadouda Badran; Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration, Economics and Political Science.
