The British University in Egypt has started its orientation week, where all the newcomers began their University life for the incoming year of 2019/20. The week started by welcoming the new students who were guided by their old peers whom their role was quite remarkable during the First-Year Experience(FYE) sessions this year. Teams were composed of 312 students including the Student Union President of each Faculty, assistants, coordinators, and peer leaders.
The British University in Egypt was keen to acquaint the new students of the University Programmes in various areas through academic, Scientific and fun activities during the entire week.
Professor Ahmed Hamad, the BUE President gave an opening speech in the auditorium, followed by Professor Leslie Croxford, Senior Vice President for Teaching & Learning, welcomed the newcomers to the campus life. Professor Hamad highlighted the role of the British University Board of Trustees, chaired by Mr. Mohamed Farid Khamis, in supporting the University to maintain its position as one of the largest universities in Egypt.
Students were directed to their faculties and received an introductory speech by Deans, Vice-Deans, Programme Directors, and Head of Departments, explaining precisely the system of each faculty. Teacher Assistants where assigned to each group of students in addition to appointing a specific personal tutor, to provide them with academic and personal support. Afterwards, the students were taken on a campus tour where they visited the BUE library and Dental hospital.
The students were directed to the food court where different student Clubs and Societies presented their roles and activities in the BUE. At the end of the week, FYE concluded it by a fun day to celebrate the new cohort welcome via sports activities, DJ and lots of fun games in the BUE sports fields.
