With immense pleasure, Professor Ahmed Hamad, President of the British University in Egypt (BUE) congratulates Professor Yehia Bahei-El-Din, Vice President for Research and Postgraduate Studies for winning the top state science award in Egypt for 2019. As a winner of the Nile Award, Bahei-El-Din’s research record is recognized as the best in his field in Egypt. Announcement of winners of the state awards was made on October 5 by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research following a historic meeting of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology Council.
On this special occasion, Professor Bahei-El-Din explained that this award is the outcome of a long journey in research with a focus on advanced materials and applications which benefit wind energy. This led to the development of large wind turbine blades and small wind turbines with innovations. Professor Bahei-El-Din’s research was funded by grants from the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, and Science and Technology Development Fund in Egypt, and the European Union.
The emergence of Bahei-El-Din as a winner of the prestigious Nile Award underscores BUE commitment to carry on with its research strategy, which considers research and technology transfer as the most important driving forces for a strong economy.
