On November 19, 2019, Ambassador Sir Geoffrey Adams; UK Ambassador to Egypt visited the University to deliver a lecture to Political Science Students. The event started with the meeting of the ambassador with BUE President, Vice- Presidents, Board Members & Deans where he expressed his gratitude to the BUE for the invitation. Ambassador Sir Geoffrey emphasized the importance of strengthening the partnership between Egypt and UK as well as boosting the Bilateral Relations for the aim of delivering new successes for both countries. “I am pleased that the UK has resumed the flights to Sharm El Sheikh,” said his Excellency.
Later, Ambassador Sir Geoffrey delivered a lecture on “Diplomacy and Conflict,” for Political Science Students. During the lecture, the students were briefed on using diplomacy in preventing and resorting conflicts with a focus on South Africa, Iran & Palestine as case studies and sharing his experience as he spent his early career in South Africa then served as Counsellor and Deputy Head of Mission. Thereafter he was Consul General in Jerusalem, Private Secretary to the Foreign Secretary, and Ambassador to Iran.
Ambassador Sir Geoffrey was keen to engage students in that interactive lecture. He listened to students’ opinions, answered their questions.
The event was organized jointly by the Centre for Egypt and Middles East Studies headed by Ambassador Dr. Mahmoud Karem and Dean Wadouda Badran.
