One of the most positive things of working at BUE is that there are colleagues who will go beyond their duties to help each other. From the recruitment stage, to arrival, then to settle in a new environment and culture, people are always available to support you. The international expat community within BUE is also growing rapidly, which sends a very positive message about the institution.
For me, working at BUE is an honour as I am not only learning about a new culture and a new education system, but I also get to meet colleagues from many different countries, cultures, and educational backgrounds of high caliber and experiences. Overall, it is a very positive lifetime experience.Read LessAlam Mahbubul Senior Assistant Registrar

I visited Cairo as a tourist about 17 years ago and fell in love with the country and wonderful hospitality of the Egyptian people, yet, it never crossed my mind that one day I would return, join the BUE and remain here for 15 years. The university has given me opportunities that I never could have imagined. I have thoroughly enjoyed the experience of teaching undergraduate students and working in the area of staff development. This has enabled me to develop new skills and have new experiences. The students and staff are very friendly and helpful so it is easy to build rapport with them and make new friends. Although there have been challenges along the way, I have enjoyed working at the university and being part of its development. If I were to be given this wonderful opportunity all over again, I would seize it with open arms.Read LessDr. Pauline Ghenghesh University Staff Development Coordinator

I joined the BUE to expand my experience of working overseas in a British style university. As educators we face continuing challenges to get the best out of our students and one of these is cultural differences. The BUE educational setting has offered me new challenges, which has encouraged me to try new methods, from which I have gained much. The staff in the Human Resources Department helped me settle in and have my greatest appreciation, the Faculty welcomed me generously, and of course the students challenged me. The experience has and continues to be rewarding.Read LessProfessor Gerard McKee Faculty of Informatics and Computer Science

After having worked in UK Higher Education for many years I decided it was time for a change. I wanted to experience living and working in a different culture and when I was offered the chance to work for BUE in Cairo I was intrigued.
The process of getting here was testing but help was available to get me through the sometimes frustrating process, and I’m very glad I did because working here is an interesting and invigorating challenge.
I am lucky to live and work alongside a supportive and growing group of expatriate colleagues, and also fortunate to work with my friendly and charming Egyptian colleagues in the Faculty of Nursing.Read LessSally Roberts Senior Assistant Registrar for the Faculty of Nursing

I was new not just at the BUE, but also in Egypt with a complete different culture and without any background in English or Arabic. The BUE education system was such that anyone could learn English, it was mandatory to take English classes while following the normal curriculum no matter your language level. The teaching was excellent.Read LessNana Toure Graduate year 2010 - Faculty BAEPS

Internationalisation is one of the main strategic objectives of the BUE; the Internationalisation Office will fulfil this objective by focusing on increasing the BUE international visibility through increasing the number of international staff and students, expanding on the students exchange programs, identifying new windows for staff mobility (inwards & outwards) and helping the transformation of the university campus into a full-fledged international campus.
