Message From The HoD
On behalf of all staff at the department of Mechanical Engineering at the British University in Egypt (BUE), I would like to welcome you to our website. The Mechanical Engineering department is the biggest department at the BUE in terms of student numbers and number of full time staff. Many top students entering the university choose to study Mechanical Engineering at the BUE due to its sound reputation. This reputation is based on three fundamental elements; innovative and cutting edge curriculum, destination of alumni, and high calibre staff. Not only does the department offer a leading Mechanical Engineering programme in Egypt in terms of content and breadth but also through the adoption of novel delivery and assessment methods. As for alumni, we are immensely proud that many of our graduates have gone on to work in major international companies and universities both locally and throughout the world. Additionally, the vast majority of our dedicated staff are internationally educated and trained in UK or other western countries.
The department currently offers two undergraduate programmes; Mechanical Engineering, and Mechatronics and Robotics Engineering. The department also is the main contributor to 4 interdisciplinary postgraduate MSc/MEng programmes at the faculty level in Renewable Energy Engineering and in Advanced Materials Science and Engineering. The department regularly updates both its undergraduate and postgraduate programmes to ensure they are the most up to date with recent developments and innovations in all fields of Mechanical Engineering.
Through all these undergraduate and postgraduate programmes you will learn to:
- gain cutting edge knowledge and cognitive skills;
- develop hands-on practical skills which prepare you for local and international jobs;
- develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills;
- conduct research at the frontier of mechanical engineering;
- build up on your personal traits and skills.
Due to the rapidly changing technological nature of Mechanical Engineering, the department strives to support students in our programmes in becoming self-learners which will provide them with life-long skills. Many of our labs are well equipped with the latest equipment procured from top world suppliers. In these labs, practical hands-on work is an integral part of the curriculum and learning experience. The department also facilitates participation in summer internships abroad. We also participate in extracurricular scientific activities such as electric vehicle and robotics competitions where students have achieve top positions.
The Mechanical Engineering department as an integral part of the Faculty of Engineering at the British University in Egypt, is accredited by National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education (NAQAAE). Additionally, the current undergraduate and postgraduate programmes are validated by relevant UK partner universities. Also we are currently seeking to apply for accreditation through the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) in the UK.
Finally, I welcome you to explore our website for detailed information about the department, staff members, labs and resources. For any queries, please feel free to contact me via email@example.com.
