Message From The Head of Department
Welcome to Civil Engineering Department at the BUE
Civil engineering is a professional engineering discipline that deals with the design, construction, and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment, including works such as buildings, bridges, roads, canals, and dams. Civil engineering comprises six major specialty areas, i.e., Structural, Construction, Geotechnical, Environmental, Water Resources, and Transportation.
The Civil Engineering Department, at BUE, offers two programmes which are both validated by London South Bank University in the UK: the Civil Engineering programme and the Construction Engineering and Management programme. Both programmes strive to keep up to date with current market practices in civil engineering and construction. The trend in civil engineering structures is to produce smart structures to establish a strong and sustainable infrastructure for the future.
The Civil Engineering Department at BUE aims to provide state-of-the-art technical programmes, to its students, in order to provide a self-reliant civil engineer who can meet the challenge of competing in today’s and tomorrow’s fast changing high tech structures and systems. The Civil Engineering programme is currently seeking international accreditation with the Joint Board of Moderators (JBM) in the UK and the Construction Engineering and Management programme is currently seeking international accreditation with the Chartered Institute of Buildings (CIOB) also in the UK.
