In its response to the new generation’s dream and aspiration of changing the world, the Department of English Language and Literature nurtures the disciplines of literature, applied linguistics and translation to broaden the intellectual horizons of our students. Our disciplines aim at helping you to reach your personal and professional success upon joining one of the following specialisms:
- Literature: B.A. of English Language and Literature where students focus on the interpretation and analysis of literary texts and study theories of literature and criticism.
- Applied Linguistics: B.A. of English Language and Literature where students study spoken and written communication, distinctive levels of analysis: phonology, grammar and lexis.
- Translation: B.A. of English Language and Literature where students acquire the skills of professional translation: terminology and lexicology, computers and translation, and theoretical aspects of translation.
In collaboration with our UK partner University, London South Bank University (LSBU), we offer dual certificates in English Language and Literature, Applied Linguistics and Translation through programmes which meet the needs the 21st century. Our programme focuses on the historical knowledge of different cultures and the effective use of technology for communication and creativity. In this respect, our courses sharpen students’ analytical thinking, argumentation, creative writing, inquiry and collaboration skills. For our graduates, the sky is the limit; they may find opportunities upon graduation in the fields of business, research, public relations, media, education, publishing, translation, linguistics, finance, entertainment, law, human resources, copywriting, criticism, editing, education, technical writing, writing, interpreting and computational linguists.
