Welcome Note

As part of its mission, the purpose of the BUE is to help build strong technical and business skills that attract inward investment to Egypt. To achieve this, the BUE has a vision that its learning and teaching should produce skilled and capable graduates to serve the local, regional and international community.
This can only happen by providing an academic environment that encourages and draws together research, learning, and teaching and engages with the social, professional and business communities, to underpin high quality academic provision, and advance industry and the professions.
This is achieved via close and intimate collaboration and understanding between the university, the business community and society.

Establish grounds for successful industrial collaboration and provide multiple avenues for collaboration, including recruiting academic staff from industry, inviting industrial personnel to the University for guest lectures and involving them in student research projects.Establish a technological centre through collaboration with industrial organisations to provide an industrial environment where local and international industry professionals, teaching and research staff will interact and collaborate on joint projects.Offer a wide choice of approved internship facilities that prepare graduates for employment.
Propose solutions to industrial technical problems in Egyptian organisations.
Help ensure BUE programmes equip students with the knowledge and skills employers need.

Leslie Croxford

Senior Vice-President for Learning and Teaching

Teaching and Learning. We at BUE are committed to providing our students not merely with degrees but also with the skills to put what they have learned to use in their careers. This enables them, whenever they change employment, to apply these skills to new areas. This is a key part of the University’s Strategic Plan and it naturally depends on the nature and quality of our teaching.

BUE ensures that teaching is fit for this purpose by aligning it with the most enlightened current international developments in teaching and learning. They seek to make possible, as a core component of the Student Experience, teaching that is communicative, project based and student centred.

The Centre for Teaching and Learning supports this important objective with numerous resources. You are invited to review and use them. We will also appreciate your suggestions as to how the continuing usefulness of the Centre can be enhanced.

Our Mission

The mission of the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) at the BUE is to contribute to the student experience for helping staff to develop their knowledge, skills andperformance, to enhance the quality of teaching to improve learner outcomes. This will be done through planned learning opportunities that support the University’s strategic objectives.

“Every teacher needs to improve, not because they are not good enough, but because they can be even better.”  Dylan Wiliam
