The BUE is seeking highly qualified and motivated candidates to develop and enhance the teaching and research activities of the University. The University welcomes applications from individuals who meet the specification set out below, either in respect to teaching only or, preferably, across the range of teaching and research activities. Successful applicants will be appointed to grades and on a salary taking account of their qualifications, experience and career achievements. Exceptionally, appointments on a part-time basis will be considered.

Professors /Associate Professors/ Lecturers:  

  • To teach undergraduate students and to conduct related assessments using an appropriate range of methods and approaches. 
  • To provide academic support and advice to undergraduate students .
  • To engage in the evaluation and development of modules and take responsibility in terms of content, delivery and assessment. 
  • To cooperate with colleagues in the continuous review and development of the Department’s taught programs and curriculum .
  • To develop proactively a teaching profile that meets the needs of the  Department .


  • To manage research projects and, as appropriate, supervise research students
  • To publish the outcomes of research in journals of international standing
  • To help set the research agenda for key aspects of research in the subject area

Other Related Activities and Functions 

  • To engage in training programmes in the University (for example through Staff Development) which are consistent with individual needs and aspirations and those of the Department.
  • To carry out specific administrative roles and functions as may reasonably be require.
  • To undertake such other duties as may be reasonably requested and that are commensurate with the nature and grade of the post .

For Professorial positions appointees will be expected to: 

  • Provide evidence of research publication and income generation.
  • Attend and organise international research conferences.
  • Generate research funding and build a research team or teams .
  • Mentor junior colleagues
  • Represent the Faculty both within the University and externally
