I.   General Requirements

  •  Applicants who obtain International certificates must have (Egyptian Preparatory School Certificate (Idadiya) or submit an evidence of 12 years of schooling. 
  •  Egyptian & Arab holders of international high school certificate must complete Arabic & Religion exams as per the level of Thanwaya Amma either in Egypt or at the level of the national & official exams of the concerned countries of high school certificate. Otherwise, they will sit for Arabic & Religion exams during the period of study at the BUE to meet the graduation requirements
  •  Egyptian male applicants aged 19 by 01st September must submit an evidence of military status. 
  •   All Egyptian male students must attend and pass (Military Education) subject during the period of study at the BUE to meet the graduation requirements. 

II. English Language Requirements

The British University in Egypt (BUE) accepts a wide range of national and international qualifications. English language admission requirements for each certificate are as follows:

1- Thanaway Amma or its equivalent of approved Arab high school certificate: applicants must either sit for the BUE English Test (Aptis), administered by the British Council in Cairo, or submit a valid academic IELTS certificate with a minimum score of 6.0.

2- International High School Certificate: holders of international high school certificate are exempted from the BUE English Test(Aptis) if they score in English subject of high school certificate as below::

2.1- IGCSE certificate: English subject with a minimum grade of (C).

2.2- American High School Diploma (SAT I certificate): a minimum score of 1300 in old SATI or 960 in new SATI.

2.3- Canadian Diploma:  English subject with a minimum grade of (75%).

2.4 - International Baccalaureate:   English subject with a minimum grade of (1).

2.5- German Certificate (Abitur):  English subject with a minimum grade of (4).

2.6- French Baccalaureate:
English subject with a minimum grade of (15).

Please note that:
Applicants with score less than the scores mentioned above must either sit for the BUE English Test (Aptis) or submit a valid academic IELTS certificate with a minimum score of 6.0.

III.
The Required Subjects for each Faculty:
Holders of high School certificates must have studied the following subjects to be eligible for applying to the faculty of interest. The required subjects of high school certificates are illustrated for each faculty as below:      

A.   For the following Faculties, applicants must have completed eight different subjects as follows:

Faculty of Arts & Humanities
  
Department of English Language and Literature (Three specialisms: Literature, Linguistics or Translation):         
                             
1.  English Language or English Literature - German Or French Language
2. Four subjects can be selected from: Accounting, Biology, Chemistry, Greece, Consumer Mathematics, Economics, Geography, Global Studies, History, Latin Logic, Mathematics, Philosophy, Physics, Psychology, Sociology, Social Studies, and Statistics.
3.  In addition; Two  other approved subjects
                    
  Department of Psychology
1. English Language or English Literature
2. Four subjects selected from: Accounting, Biology, Chemistry, Greece , Consumer Mathematics, Economics, French/German, Geography, Global Studies, History, Latin Logic, Mathematics, Philosophy, Physics, Psychology, Sociology, Social Studies, Statistics.
3. In addition; Three other approved subjects

Faculty of Law  

1. English Language or Literature
2. Five subjects selected from: Accounting, Biology, Business Studies, Chemistry, Economics, French, Geography, Global Studies, History, Logic, Mathematics, Philosophy, Physics, Psychology, Sociology, Social Studies and Statistics
3. 2 other approved subjects

Faculty of Business Administration, Economics and Political Science

1. English Language or Literature

2. Five subjects selected from: Accounting, Biology, Business Studies, Chemistry, Computer Studies, Consumer Mathematics, Economics, French/German, Geography, Global Studies, History, Logic, Mathematics, Philosophy, Physics, Psychology, Sociology, Social Studies, Statistics, US Government

3. Two other approved subjects

Faculty of Mass Communication and Mass Media

1.  English Language or Literature

2. Five subjects selected from: Accounting, Art , Biology, Business Studies, Chemistry, Computer Studies, Consumer Mathematics, Economics, French/German/ Spanish, Geography, Global Studies, History, Logic, Mathematics, Philosophy, Physics, Psychology, Sociology, Social Studies, Statistics, US Government

3. Two  other approved subjects

Faculty of Dentistry, Nursing and Pharmacy

1.  English Language or English Literature

2.  Biology

3. Chemistry

4. Physics

5. One subject of Math branches or Economics

6.  Three other approved subjects

B.  For the following Faculties, applicants must have completed nine different subjects as follows:

  • Faculty of Informatics & Computer Science
