The British University in Egypt hosted the International Clinical Pharmacy Conference that was held from the 27th to the 29th of January, 2018. The conference was organized by the Egyptian Foundation of Clinical Pharmacy (EFCP) with the collaboration of The International Pharmaceutical Federation & the Central Administration of Pharmaceutical Affairs.

Eight distinguished foreign experts in the field of Clinical Pharmacy from the USA presented lectures in the conference among them was Prof. Joseph Dipiro Dean of School of Pharmacy, Virginia Commonwealth University & the former Chairman of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy AACP. Also speakers from the Central Administration for Pharmaceutical Affairs, Egyptian Ministry of Health and from Pharmacy Syndicate.

The conference discussed the role of the clinical pharmacist in hospitals with the rest of the departments, stressing that the presence of clinical pharmacist within the medical team provides a line of defence against medical errors, especially drug interactions, and discussed rules governing the practice of clinical pharmacy in Egypt.

The Conference was followed by workshops in the same field on 29th and 30th of January 2018 by the hospital pharmacy officials from the Central Administration for Pharmaceutical Affairs aimed at spreading pharmaceutical awareness and improving the level of medical service. It was attended by 450 pharmacists from the academic field, hospital pharmacists or pharmacy students.

This conference is an international scientific gathering in the field of clinical pharmacy and an opportunity to transfer the expertise of top clinical pharmacists in the world.

Faculty of Pharmacy is very proud to announce that for the 3rd year consecutively, a BUE Pharmacy student won the 1st place in the “National Patient Counselling Competition”. This year is presented by Y5 Student Simona Sallam, the competition was held in Cairo University in January 2018 where students from all Faculties of Pharmacy both Governmental & Private Universities participated in this competition. The competition was organized by the Egyptian Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation. Simona will be representing Egypt in the International competition that will be held in Argentina in August 2018.

It worth mentioning that BUE Pharmacy graduate Omar Badr won the 1st place in the International Patient Counselling Competition held in Zimbabwe in August 2016 & Pharmacy graduate Zeinab Amr won the 3rd place in the same International competition held August 2017 in Taiwan. 

Faculty of Pharmacy has proudly organized a lecture on 25/7/2017 about “Discovering of Innovative Therapeutics from Industrial and Academic Perspectives” by Prof. Magid Abou-Gharbia, Ph.D., FRSC, Associate Dean for Research, Professor of Medicinal Chemistry and Director of the Moulder Center for Drug Discovery Research (MCDDR) at the School of Pharmacy, Temple University, Philadelphia, PA.  Prof. Abou-Gharbia led research efforts in Medicinal Chemistry and Drug discovery at Wyeth Pharmaceuticals resulted in the discovery of eight marketed drugs and many compounds currently under clinical evaluation.

Faculty of Pharmacy, BUE, is very delighted to host the International Conference on Advancing Pharmacy Education and Practice organized by The Egyptian Foundation of Clinical Pharmacy. The conference will be from 27 to 28 January 2018 in the BUE Premises. The speakers are all very distinguished Foreign and Egyptian figures (around 8 foreign speakers) in the field of Clinical Pharmacy, detailed programme will be published later.  The conference will be preceded by 5 workshops on Clinical Pharmacy for 2 days on 25 & 26 January 2018.

The British University in Egypt and the Faculty of Pharmacy take the immense pleasure to announce the grand success of the 56th annual conference and workshop of the Egyptian Society of Pharmacology Experimental Therapeutics (ESPET). It was held on Saturday 28th of January 2017, in the University auditorium, under the patronage of Professor Ahmed Hamad the BUE President, Professor Mohamed Khayat ESPET President, Professor Mohey EL Mazar the conference President, with the attendance of Professor Yehia Bahei El Din - BUE Vice President for Research and Post graduate studies.

The Conference was initiated with a series of sessions where Egyptian Workshops on Behavioral Pharmacology were delivered by distinguished speakers, it included Professor Hussein El-Subbagh, Professor Noha Nassar, ProfessorAzza A.Ali, and Professor Ebtehal El-Demerdash, all from the Faculty of Pharmacy of Ain Shams, Cairo, Mansoura and Al Azhar Universities.

The conference included presentations and posters, showing new trend in Pharmacological research, where three poster presentations and scientific work shops were presented by BUE students from the Faculty of Pharmacy, where 200 participants attended the conference from different Pharmaceutical companies, Pharmacology teaching staff from Faculties of Medicine, Pharmacy and Veterinarian and researchers from the National Research Center & National Organization for Drug Control & Research.
