It is not a matter of being big, but a matter of being effective”, goes the philosophy behind nanotechnology. As a leading Egyptian university in education and research, the British University in Egypt is proud to host the ‘International Nanotechnology Summit’ that has been organized by the Nanotechnology Research Centre at BUE (NRC- BUE). The event was held under the Patronage of his Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Egypt, Professor/ Khaled Abd El-Ghafar on 14th and 15th of March 2018. The first day of the event brought together around one thousand of brilliant Egyptian scientists and young researchers from all the universities and research centres to attend and hear from six of the top nanotechnology scientists in the world. The second day of the event entitled; ‘Nanotechnology Scientists Forum’ has taken place at the Four Seasons Hotel in Cairo, in the presence of a number of Egyptian ministers and regulatory authorities representatives.

The prestigious ‘BUE Nanotechnology Research Center Advisory Board’ is composed of six elite scientists; Professor/ Mostafa El-Sayed, Julius Brown Chair and Regents Professor, Laser Dynamics Laboratory Director, Georgia Tech., Atlanta, USA, Professor/ Dongyuan Zhao, Professor at the Department of Chemistry, Fudan University, Shanghai, China, Professor/ Dong Moon Shin, Frances Kelly Blomeyer Distinguished Endowed Chair in Cancer Research, Department of Hematology and Medical Oncology, Emory University, Professor/ Alamgir Karim, The Director of the Doctoral Materials Program & the Polymers and Soft Matter Center at the University of Houston, Texas, USA, Professor/ JoAnn Browning, The Dean of David and Jennifer Spencer Distinguished Chair and Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Texas at San Antonio, USA, and  Professor/ Shaker Mousa, Chairman of the Pharmaceutical Research Institute, at Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, New York, USA. They presented their fruitful lectures covering a wide spectrum of nanotechnology applications including; Engineering, Energy, Medicine, Agriculture and Water Treatment. The two days event was aimed at giving the opportunity to the Egyptian scientists and researchers from all over Egypt to compare experiences, establish new partnerships, and most importantly advance research and innovation on the problems specific to Egypt and the Arab World.
