The Chair welcomed the new student representatives and told them that he would like to receive feedback from them on a regular basis whether to receive positive or negative comments.
       
3.0  Student Issues
       
3.1  Preparatory Level
       
Noted:
3.1.0    The students were quite satisfied with the Introduction to Management module and with the Teaching Assistants.

3.1.1    Students in groups A & B do not have any problems in the Statistics module. They are happy with the Module Leader (ML) and TAs.

3.1.2    They were pleased with both TAs in the module but gave better feedback about one of them. She even gets students from other groups attending her tutorials in addition to her students.
 
3.1.3    Students do not have any comments about the ML for Information Technology for Business  apart from the fact that he swore at one of the students for switching off the projector more than once as he was giving the lecture.
       
Agreed:
3.1.4    The Chair, Head of Department and Vice Dean all agreed that the ML was wrong in not being able to control himself but he is not at fault if he said something in general not aimed at someone in particular.
       
3.1.5    The Chair will get back to the ML.
       
Noted:
3.1.6    Students complained about the TA’s attitude in the Introduction to the Economic Enviornment of Business module. Also, they do not understand the module content as explained by the MLs.
       
Agreed:
3.1.7    Students should make sure to attend all classes and begin to study on their own, they should then go to the ML if they cannot understand.
       
3.1.8    All topics taught will be revised to link to the lecture and tutorials.
       
3.1.9    There will be an extra week of office hours.
       
Noted:
3.1.10    Students who attend with one of the TAs in the Statistics module do not understand her explanation.
       
3.1.11    The TA of the Introduction to the Economic Enviornment of Business module commented in an inappropriate manner to a student who needed to use a magnifying glass in the exam.
       
Agreed:
3.1.12    The Department should apologize to the student after confirming that he is a special needs student.

Noted:
3.1.13    Student representatives should get back to the Programme Director this week even if there are no updates.
       
3.1.14    In the Accounting Fundamentals module, students complained that they were unable to solve problems using UK steps.
       
Agreed:
3.1.15    The Chair advised them that they will still receive marks if they solve problems using any other steps.
       
Noted:
3.1.16    Also, in the Accounting Fundamentals 1 module, students complained about ML’s inability to control the class.
       
Agreed:
3.1.17    The Chair told them that they will definitely feel a difference next week as the teaching team will change.
