  • Bio: Samy Ghoniemy is a Professor at the British University in Egypt, Faculty of Informatics & Computer Science (ICS), Computer network Department and the director of the Advanced Informatics and Business Intelligence (AIBI) research center. He received his B.Sc. with honors in 1990 and M.Sc. degrees in 1996. Both degrees in computer and communication engineering. Mr. Ghoniemy also attended two years condensed program studying optoelectronic diploma from 1991 to 1992. From 1991 to 2000 he was a Junior Lecturer and research assistant. He received his doctoral degree, PhD, degree from the Department of Systems and Computer Engineering, Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada. He has authored/coauthored over 75 research publications in peer-reviewed reputed journals, book chapters and conference proceedings. He has served as the program committee member of various international conferences and reviewer for various international journals. He has directed many funded research projects and he is currently holding the fund of 4 running projects.  He is the editor of 8 books in the area of computational intelligence, networks, and embedded systems. His research interests include, high performance computing, social networks analysis, big data and graph analytics, IoT, optical networks, computational intelligences and deep learning for medical image analysis and healthcare applications, machine intelligence and cognitive science.  S. Ghoniemy is a member of IEEE, ACM and other scientific societies.

  • Projects Supervised: My desires to engage, challenge, and inspire growth of knowledge in my students. Over the past fifteen years I taught and worked with many undergraduate and graduate students as instructor, research advisor, supervisor, and as senior supervisor. During these fifteen years I taught many undergraduate and graduate courses, developed courses, planned lessons and ‎assignments, led class discussions, and supervised many final graduation projects in different areas of Computer networks, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, and high performance computing.‎ Throughout this academic journey, I enjoy transferring knowledge and skills to my students through technology to achieve the course intended learning outcomes. It is my goal to share with students the awe and excitement, as well as the dedication and hard work that comes along with using research tools to ask and answer questions, building scenarios and activities. In the senior-level and graduate courses, I emphasize on team work, soft skills, and hands-on skills through group projects, software documentation, technical and progress reports, term papers, and presentations. Finally, I hold myself to the same standards that I hold my students. That is, I strive to become a skilled thinker and learner, and I believe that this process is life-long.
