Weapons of Mass Destruction and Security Forum Report

The Weapons of Mass Destruction and Security Forum was held between the 15th and 16th of November, 2017 in Amman, Jordan. It was organized by the Arab Institute for Security Studies in cooperation with the government of the Netherlands, NTI, and Geneva Centre for Security Policy. Five students from the British University in Egypt and one Teaching Assistant participated enthusiastically in the forum. Namely, Ms Hend Ahmed, Ms Menna Khaled, Ms Irene Iskander, Ms Youstina Magdy, Mr Mohamed Alaa, and Mr Youssef Osman. 
The Forum mainly tackled issues related to regional security and nuclear disarmament. Amongst the issues discussed in the forum were the following; the creation of a WMD free zone in the Middle East, the efforts taken towards achieving efficient arms control and disarmament, the fate of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty in the Middle East, the effectiveness of the CTBT Coalition, and the role of civil society in nuclear disarmament. The Forum further examined the achievements of the Wise Men Committee of the Arab League, the JCPOA from an Iranian Perspective, and the Jordanian Nuclear Program.
