Founding Director of Center of Sustainability and Future Studies (FECSFS): Prof. Ahmed Rashed
Prof. Ahmed Yehia Rashed the founding director of the Centre of Sustainability and Future Studies (FECSFS) and former head of Architecture Department at the British University in Egypt. His profession is Architecture and Urban Planning/Design. Prof. Ahmed Rashed was the chair of Architectural Engineering Department, Mansoura University, Egypt from July 2004 to September 2008. Got his Ph.D. January 1995, in Architecture Planning and Conservation, University of York, Institute of Advanced Architectural Studies, UK.
Assistant Director of FECSFS: Prof. Husam Bakr Khalil
Prof. Husam Bakr Khalil has a long teaching experience, as he was involved in teaching since 1983, the year of his graduation. He taught at a number of academic institutes including Assiut University, Military Technical College, Helwan University, Jordan University, 10th of Ramadan Institute of Technology, King Abdul Aziz University, and finally British University in Egypt (BUE). His profession is Architecture/Urban design (Ph. D), 1998. Degree awarded by Helwan University under the Joint Supervision Program between the Faculty of Engineering at Mataria, Cairo, Egypt; and Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, Georgia, USA.
Board Member of FECSFS: Prof. Mohamed Esmat El Attar
Prof. Mohamed ElAttar Professor and Head of the Architectural Department, Mansoura University (2009- 2011). Dean of the Higher Institute for Technology and Engineering (Oraby), (2011- 2012). At the present time working as a Professor of Architecture, British University in EGYPT (BUE). Received Ph.D. in Environmental and Landscape Architecture, Assiut University, Faculty of Engineering (Egypt) and Duke University, School of Environment, North Carolina (USA), titled “Vegetation Role in Improving Environmental Performance in Egyptian City” February 1996.
Board Member of FECSFS: Prof. Ayman Othman
Dr. Othman was appointed the Deputy-Director of the Centre of Sustainability and Future Studies (FECSFS) and the Director of the Architectural Engineering Program in In September 2012 and 2013 respectively. Furthermore he is a Member of the Faculty Teaching and Learning Committee as well as Member of the Faculty Research Committee. He is the Deputy-Editor of the Journal of Construction (JoC) and a registered referee and member of advisory board of a number of international academic journals. In July 2013, Dr. Othman was elected as a member of the Council of Association of Schools of Construction in Southern Africa (ASOCSA).
Board Member of FECSFS: Dr. Hesham Safwat
Dr. Hesham joined the BUE in 2014 as Lecturer in Department of Mechanical Engineering. His major Experience in the industry and applied engineering science for over 20 years in Miraco-Carrier industry school and mainly a consultant for HVAC Central projects, the scope of his education and research for applying Green building and LEED in middle east Commercial projects area . Dr. Hesham obtained his Ph.D. in Geothermal energy from Cairo University 2014, He was an instructor for Miraco-Carrier company - Adel Barakat training Centre from 2005-2014.
Board Member of FECSFS: Dr. Marwa Adel
Dr. Marwa earned her PHD degree in 2011 from Cairo University. In 2013 she also worked for the European Union TEMPUS project as an expert evaluator for integration of Environmental Aspects and Modern Technology (GIS and RS) and Pedagogic (eLearning) in Egyptian higher education with special focus on planning. Dr. Marwa joined the British University in Egypt (BUE) in 2015, since then she was involved in teaching up – to-date courses in a variety or correlated disciplines; Geographic information system, Advanced construction technology, and Graduation project.
Board Member of FECSFS: Dr. Walaa Salah
Lecturer at the British University in Egypt (BUE). Having practical experience in the field of Green buildings, and Green building rating systems- working for different universities: Arab Academy for Science & Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT), October University for Modern Sciences and Arts (MSA University, as well as a number of multidisciplinary consultancy companies, e.g. Dorsch, GHD, and Khateeb and Alami. 2015-2016: Member at the Health & Safety committee for Architectural engineering department. 2016-2017: Exam officer for Architectural engineering department.
Assistant Lecturer of FECSFS: Dr. Hassan Refaat
Dr. Hassan Graduated with a bachelor degree in Tourism and Hotels management "Tourism Guidance Department", Fayoum University in 2000, then He got his Master and PhD. Degrees in Coptic and Islamic architecture in 2005 and 2012, also he got master’s degree in Cultural Heritage Management (CHM) in 2014 from Sorbonne University. He has been working at the Egyptian Tourism Authority as a tourist specialist since 2001. He participated in many international scientific conferences, seminars, training programs about tourism and heritage and sustainability which were held in different countries like Japan, India, china, Thailand, Singapore, Italy, Greece & many more. He’s interested in different topics like sustainable tourism, heritage, Marketing, Management, Scientific researches.
Research Assistant of FECSFS: Eng. Omar K Al-Masalmeh
Eng. Omar Al-Masalmeh is a postgraduate student in Sustainable Engineering Design & Construction (STDC) at the British University in Egypt (BUE). His profession is Research Assistant at Farouk El-Baz Center for Sustainability and Future Studies (FECSFS). Recently, he has awarded a scholarship to study M.Sc in Water Engineering at TU Berlin Campus El-Gouna, Egypt. Eng. Omar Al-Masalmeh graduated with B.Sc. in Civil Engineering in 2016 from Mansoura University, Egypt. He Founded the Syrian Student Association at Mansoura University (SSAMU). Furthermore, he is a member in the Arab Organization for Human Rights (AOHR). He has practical experience in project management and communication. His research fields related to Sustainability & Future Studies with special focus on Water Resources.
