Entry Requirements

BUE admissions requirements comply fully with the regulations set by the Egyptian Supreme Council of Private Universities.

General Requirements

Applicants must have attained the Egyptian Secondary School General Certificate (Thanaweya Amma) or approved equivalent certificates according to the regulations set by the Egyptian Supreme Council of Private Universities.

 IGCSE/GCSE
 American High School Diploma
 Canadian High School Diploma
 French Baccalaureate
 German Abitur
 International Baccalaureate
 Other Foreign Certificates (Please contact Student Affairs)
Note: Applicants must have evidence of 11 years of schooling or submit the Preparatory School Certificate (Idadiya).
Minimum Grades for Admission
 Faculty of Engineering                                                                            70%
 Faculty of Informatics & Computer Science                                                65%
 Faculty of Business Administration, Economics & Political Science                   60%
 Faculty of Nursing                                                                                  55%
Note: Minimum grade for Non-Egyptian applicants in all faculties is 55%.
Note: Minimum grades are subject to change according to the regulations set by the Egyptian Supreme Council of Private Universities.
Faculty Subject Requirements
Faculty of Engineering / Faculty of Informatics & Computer Science:
- English
- Mathematics
- Advanced Mathematics or SAT II (Mathematics)
- Chemistry
- Physics
Faculty of Business Administration, Economics & Political Science:
- English
- Five Basic subjects, such as Economics, Business Studies, French, German, Mathematics, Consumer Mathematics, Accounting, Statistics, Chemistry, Physics, Biology , Geography, Global Studies, History, Philosophy, Logic, Social Studies , U.S Government , and Computer.
Egyptian Secondary School General Certificate (Thanaweya Amma)
- The official Egyptian Secondary School General Certificate (Thanaweya Amma) must be submitted.
- Faculties of Engineering and Informatics & Computer Science: Mathematics I, Mathematics II, Physics and Chemistry are required subjects.
- Faculty of Business Administration, Economics & Political Science: All Egyptian Secondary School General Certificate (Thanaweya Amma) holders are eligible to apply for admission.
IGCSE/GCSE
- 8 ’O’ Level subjects are required with an official school transcript.
Or
- 7 ‘O’ Level subjects and either 1 ‘AS’ Level or 1 ‘A’ Level subject are required with an official school transcript.
Note: A minimum grade of ‘C’ in ‘O’ Level subjects and a minimum grade of ‘E’ in ‘AS’ or ‘A’ Level subjects is required.
Note: General Science, Religion, Physical Education, Military Sciences, Classical Arabic, and Arabic as a Second Language are not counted as one of the 8 required subjects.
American High School Diploma
- All student must have been attained Grades 10, 11, and 12.
- 8 subjects of at least one credit each are required with an official transcript.
- At least 4 subjects must have been passed in Grade 12 and a maximum of 2 subjects can have been passed in Grade 10.
- SAT-I with a minimum score of 1200 (new system).
- SAT-II is optional with a minimum score of 900.
Note: In order to count SAT II, student should take Maths, if interested in joining either Faculty of Engineering or Computer Science
Canadian High School Diploma (Ontario)
- 8 subjects are required with a maximum of 3 subjects from Grade 11 and the remainder from Grade 12.
French Baccalaureate
- 8 subjects are required and must include English Language.
German Abitur
- Grade 12 must be completed.
- 7 subjects are required with a minimum score of 3 and must include English Language.
International Baccalaureate
- 6 subjects are required and must include English Language.
- 3 high level subjects must be included within the 6 subjects
- Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge must be taken but neither one is counted as one of the 6 subjects.
Other Foreign Certificates
Please contact the BUE Student Affairs Office for information about other approved foreign certificates and qualifications.

    2. Receipt of Payment of Non-refundable Application Fee (Please see Fee section)
    3. Copy of Official Secondary/High School Transcript
    4. Copy of Preparatory School Certificate (Idadiya) or Proof of at least 11 Years of Schooling (Foreign qualifications only)
    5. Copy of Birth Certificate
    6. Copy of National ID (Egyptians Only)
    7. Six (6) Passport-size Photos
    8. Official SAT I Results authenticated from AMIDEAST (American High School Diploma Only)
    9. Official SAT II Results authenticated from AMIDEAST (American High School Diploma Only) 
    10. Military Form Istimara 2 Gond (Egyptian Males Only)
    11. Sponsorship Letter or Bank Statement (Non-Egyptians Only)
    12. Copy of Passport (Non-Egyptians Only)
    13. Medical Certificate & HIV Test Results (Non-Egyptians Only)
    14. Official Student’s Status Bayan Hala from Transferred University (Transfer Students Only)

    Note: Once an applicant is offered a place in one of the BUE degree programmes, originals of all the required documents listed above must be submitted in order for registration to take place.
