Professor Yehia Bahei-El-Din has been awarded

 

THE NATIONAL PRIZE FOR EXCELLENCE IN ADVANCED TECHNOLOGICAL SCIENCES

Text Box: June 19th, 2008, Professor Yehia Bahei-El-Din was awarded The National Prize for Excellence in Advanced Technological Sciences for his research in Advanced Composite Materials and Structures.    This prestigious prize is awarded annually to individuals with significant contributions to science and technology by the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology in Egypt.  Professor Bahei-El-Din’s research established fundamental methods for understanding the behaviour of composite materials and contributed to the manufacturing of lightweight structures with enhanced properties. 

Before joining BUE in 2007, Prof. Bahei-El-Din was professor of Structural Engineering at Cairo University, and Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and North Carolina State University in the USA.  He is a graduate of Cairo University (B.S. 1972) and Duke University, USA (Ph.D. 1979).  His previous awards include the National Achievement Award in Engineering Sciences (Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, Egypt, 1994), Honorary Degree and State Medal for Science of the First Class (Presidential Award, Egypt, 1995), Research Achievement Award (NASA, USA, 1983), and Senior Researcher Award (National Academy of Engineering, USA, 2002).
