About Loughborough University
Loughborough University

Everyone who has been involved in creating the BUE is proud to have seen it come to fruition. The opening in September 2005 was one step in a journey to establish a new centre of research and teaching excellence in the Middle East. Initially a group of UK universities led by Loughborough provided BUE with a pool of expertise and advice from well-qualified and experienced academic practitioners in a range of highly respected institutions.

Loughborough University’s involvement – and mine - dates back to the very start of the project. Academic experts have helped with curriculum development, and advised on issues including the recruitment of high calibre British and Egyptian staff, equipping laboratories, and planning for future expansion.

For a university aspiring to produce the leaders of tomorrow, this represents an enviable resource and the opportunity to collaborate with a new and exciting partner in a vibrant part of the world cannot be overstated.

Professor of Construction Management, Loughborough University and BUE UK Adviser
